Zivilisation trifft auf Wildnis: Alexander Maria Lohmann setzt afrikanische Wildtiere in neue, überraschende Zusammenhänge. Metropolen, digitalisierte Fragmente handgemalter Ölbilder und scheinbar unberührte Landschaften begegnen einander in surrealen fotografischen Kompositionen. Wirklichkeit und Vorstellung, Natur und menschlich geprägte Welt verschmelzen.

Ausgangspunkt sind Lohmanns eigene Fotografien afrikanischer Tiere. Sie treffen auf unterschiedlichste Bildräume – von pulsierenden Großstädten bis zu entlegenen Regenwäldern und weitgehend unberührten Regionen. So entsteht eine visuelle Reise, die vertraute Grenzen auflöst und die ursprüngliche Kraft der Tiere in einen völlig neuen Kontext stellt.

Civilization meets wilderness: Alexander Maria Lohmann places African wildlife in new and unexpected contexts. Metropolises, digitally transformed fragments of hand-painted oil works and seemingly untouched landscapes come together in surreal photographic compositions. Reality and imagination, nature and the human-shaped world begin to merge.

The starting point is Lohmann’s own photography of African animals. These images encounter a wide range of environments – from vibrant cities to remote rainforests and largely untouched regions. The result is a visual journey that dissolves familiar boundaries and places the primal power of the animals in an entirely new context.

The circus is open – for the untamed power of nature.
